Gifts to the Department of Biomedical Engineering help advance our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of humans through education, research and technology development at the intersection of engineering and health.

Your impact

You can enable our students to become the thought leaders of tomorrow through an applied educational experience and support our faculty through their own teaching, research, and development activities in biomedical engineering.

  • Biomedical Engineering Department Fund

Yun Wu, assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, leads a lab tour. Wu's research applies engineering principles and design concepts to develop novel therapeutics and diagnostics for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other deadly diseases.

Your gift helps faculty members in the Department continue to produce high-impact research that helps students gain in-depth knowledge and participate in hands-on laboratory research.

  • Dr. Robert E. Mates Scholarship Fund

A faculty member dressed formally looks at a specimen while a student uses a microscope to closely examine the specimen.

Created in honor and memory of Dr. Robert E. Mates, who was an innovator in biomedical engineering throughout his 35-year career at UB and recipient of SUNY Chancellors Award for Excellence in Teaching. The Mates Scholarship supports undergraduate students pursuing a career in biomedical engineering.
